Membership Types

Professional Designer

Annual Dues: $275.00

New applicants or NWSID Associate Members may become Professional Members upon successful completion of one of the following:

Passage of the NCIDQ, CQRID, CKBD, or the equivalent as required by the state in which the Member resides.

Completion of at least four years of college in an accredited interior design program and is currently active in the field, with no less than five years of design work experience.

Completion of an Associate’s Degree in an accredited interior design program or degree from a technical school approved by the local NWSID Chapter Board and is currently active in the field, with no less than seven years of design work experience.

Completion of a post-secondary school level education and is currently active in the field of interior design, with no less than eight years design work experience.

Associate Designer

Annual Dues: $275.00

New applicants or NWSID Emerging Members may become Associate Members upon successful completion of one of the following:

Completion of at least two years of college in an accredited interior design program or completion of a program at a technical school approved by the NWSID Chapter Board.Completion of a post-secondary school level education and is currently active in the field of interior design with no less than three years of design work experience.

Completion of five years of design work experience, with three letters of recommendation: one from a client, and one from a contractor.

Emerging Designer

Annual Dues: $75.00

Independent applicant, working toward required years of design/trade work experience with letter of reference and/or transcript.

Designer Resource Educator Member

Annual Dues: $0

Independent applicant, working toward required years of design/trade work experience with letter of reference and/or transcript.

Sustaining Design Member

Annual Dues: $137.50

A semi or totally retired Associate or Professional Member in good standing, who has reached 60 years of age, and has been active in NWSID for 5 or more years, is eligible to apply for this level, with no drop in benefits and Member status, and pay only half the Membership dues they are currently paying.

At Large Membership

Annual Dues: $0

This includes any design member who is unable to participate in organizational events and meetings due to illness, personal crisis, or sabbatical. The Chapter Board on a yearly basis must approve At Large Membership status. Dues are not owed, and the member will not have a website listing or voting privileges. Membership level at the time of the request for this status is maintained.

Students

Annual Dues: $0

An applicant who is enrolled in an interior design college, or interior design program. A Class schedule is required as proof of current enrollment. Student status can be audited at any time. Upon completion, graduation, or unenrolling from interior design school or design program, you must move up to Emerging Designer status.

Designer Resource + Joint Membership

Annual Dues: $275.00

(Includes 2 representatives; additional $75 for 3+ representatives)

Annual Dues: $560 Joint Seattle-Portland Membership

(Includes 4 representatives, 2 for each market)

Professionals who are in allied trades with valid business credentials or professionals in education who support the efforts of interior designers. PRA’s may not vote unless they hold an elected office on the chapter board. This excludes holding the office of President and President Elect. Each accredited interior design school, college or technical school is entitled to one honorary PRA Membership per year in the interior design department. PRA Members are not required to maintain CEU’s for Membership.

General Membership Requirements

To maintain active member status:

All members must comply with dues payment requirements and adhere to the Code of Ethics.

All members must attend at least six general meetings per fiscal year. Functions include all General and Board Meetings, and special events.

All members must earn 0.5 continuing education credits (5 contact hours) per year:

  • 0.3 (3 contact hours) of these credits must be officially designated CEU credits. These CEU credits are registered.
  • 0.2 (2 contact hours) are a combination of the following:
    • NWSID promoted events excluding monthly general meetings
    • Keynote presentations from trade shows such as KBIS, NEOCON, etc.
    • NORDEX keynote speakers
    • Third Thursday keynote speakers (Seattle Design Center) – does not include showroom presentations
    • Webinars/Webcasts
